League Overview
Player Control
The Players Football League is governed by its players — not owners, investors, or outside interests.
League Advisory Council
During the League’s launch phase, the League Advisory Council shapes strategic direction, including the initial task of selecting a Commissioner for the League.
Governing Board
Once the League enters ongoing operations, a controlling majority of Governing Board seats will be perpetually held by players to ensure durable player control.
Leadership Accountability
The League’s Commissioner reports to the Governing Board, giving the players hire/fire authority over all League leadership.
Legal Structure
The League operates as a single-entity league, meaning the League and all teams are part of one legal entity: Players Football League, LLC.
League Operations
League and team operations are managed by a third-party sports-and-entertainment company (selection pending) under a cost-plus management agreement. The operations partner is accountable to the Governing Board, and performance is audited annually.
Consumer Brands
Teams are branded as popular Consumer Brands. Player Agents play an essential role in helping players select the team that they play for and in maximizing any off-field endorsement deals.
Foundational Decisions
The League Advisory Council is establishing the initial framework for key League decisions, including leadership selection, profit-sharing structures, health and safety standards, game rules, and partnerships. Once operational, the player-controlled Governing Board may revisit or amend this framework at its discretion.
