Commissioner Candidates

The League Advisory Council is evaluating Commissioner candidates who can serve as the public-facing leader of the Players Football League. Candidate priorities include:

  • Player-First Leadership:  A demonstrated commitment to leading within a player-controlled governance model.
  • Football Credibility:  The League is particularly interested in candidates with direct playing experience who can credibly represent player priorities and culture at the highest level.
  • Commercial Execution:  Proven capability to align Consumer Brand partners, operations partners, and distribution partners around a unified league vision—driving growth while protecting competitive integrity.

Operating / Broadcasting Partners

The Players Football League is organized as a single-entity league, meaning the League and all teams operate under one legal entity: Players Football League, LLC.  This entity will contract with two key business partners:

  • Operating Partner: The League is evaluating proposals from sports-and-entertainment firms to manage day-to-day league and team operations under cost-plus terms.
  • Broadcasting Partner: The League is evaluating proposals from prospective broadcasting partners, with a bias toward pay-for-performance and shared growth.

Team Consumer Brands

In contrast to traditional place-based leagues, teams in the Players Football League are branded as football-aligned consumer brands through long-term Brand Licensing Agreements (BLAs). Each BLA grants a Consumer Brand comprehensive stewardship over its team’s brand identity, while preserving league-wide governance and competitive integrity.  Team Branding rights include:

  • Evergreen and Transferable Rights:  Consumer Brands hold their team branding rights in perpetuity and may transfer or assign those rights, subject to league standards.
  • Team Brand Identity & Uniform Design:  Brands control the full visual identity of their team, including uniforms, marks, colorways, naming, and related brand expressions.
  • Personnel Oversight:  While teams are operated by the League, Consumer Brands retain defined veto authority over coaching and player personnel decisions to ensure alignment with brand image.

The League recently commissioned a valuation of team branding rights by the sponsorship valuation team at Nielsen Media.  Contact Us for results of the valuation study.
